“The best part of my job is helping people. The legal process can be intimidating and complicated and I like being able to walk people through their case step-by-step until the very end. When I accept a client, they know I care about them and what is important to them. And that I’m going to use all of my experience, passion and skills to do the right things the right way to help them make smart decisions.”

He earned his B.A. in Journalism at the University of South Carolina in 1978 and worked in the broadcasting industry for several years covering the S.C. Legislature, Governor’s Office, college football, and the Atlanta Braves. He attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned his law degree in 1987. Steve captained the American Bar Association’s Moot Court team during Law School and served as a law clerk at the Columbia firm of Belser, Baker, Ravenel, Toal & Bender.  After graduation, Steve joined Charleston Law Firm of Young, Clement Rivers & Tisdale as an associate. Afterwards he was a solo practitioner and member of a professional association.

In 1998, Stephen DeAntonio started his own firm, The DeAntonio Law Firm in Charleston, SC. He has handled many high-profile cases and has been voted as one the Best Lawyers in America, and U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firms, with special recognition to his work in the field of First Amendment. Mr. DeAntonio also holds the highest peer rating for legal ability and ethics, the AV PREEMINENT® rating from Martindale Hubbell.

Steve’s been a past contributing editor of the treatise, “The Law of Automobile Insurance in South Carolina.” He’s also served on the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection (formerly the Client Security Fund), and closed out his tenure as Chairman.

His experience in broadcasting, as a defense attorney, and now as a plaintiff’s attorney make him a great advocate for his clients.

Steve resides in Charleston, SC and is active in his church, including leadership positions. He has served on the boards of local charitable organizations and is currently a member of the Greater Charleston Metro Business Alliance. He enjoys composing whimsical country songs and playing his guitar. He loves literature, and has penned a novel recognized by the prestigious Faulkner Society. DeAntonio, naturally, loves cooking authentic Italian food, paired of course with Italian wines. He enjoys hunting and the outdoors, and was a competitive age-group triathlete and runner. When it was evident that his forays in pee wee football and parochial league basketball wouldn’t develop into a professional career, Steve took up water sports such as surfing and sailing.
